# Desktop BLE reader
After implementing and flashing the GATT service described in `../docs/firmware-and-bringup.md`, create a Python 3.10+ virtual environment, install `requirements.txt`, and run:
```sh
python read_steps.py --seconds 120
```
Enable Bluetooth and grant the terminal/Python process Bluetooth permission when the operating system requests it. Output is JSON with lifetime steps, battery voltage, SOC and fault flags. The reader supports macOS, Windows and Linux through Bleak. It has not been tested against an assembled Stride board. The packet decoder is checked with a known byte vector.
